Child friendly holidays and accommodation in the Northern
Rivers Region
The Northern Rivers spans from north
of Coffs Harbour in the south to Tweed Heads\Queensland
border to the north. The area is famous for family holidays
beautiful beaches and countryside.
Getting there:
by road
- From Sydney: 6 hours along the Pacific Highway you enter
the Northern Rivers. The region spans another 5 hours north.
From Brisbane: approx 1 hour south of Brisbane you enter
the Northern Rivers region at Tweed Heads. The area continues
another 5 ½ hours to the south.
by bus -
Most NSW bus companies service through to QLD. Queensland
travellers should also have a reciprocal service to Sydney
thru the Northern Rivers. (Please refer to your preferred
transport company for timetables and fare prices).
by train:
The XPT Countrylink, has daily services to Brisbane servicing
parts of the Northern Rivers (refer to http://www.countrylink.info
for further information)
by plane:
Virgin Blue offers flights to Ballina from Adelaide, Sydney,
Cairns and Melbourne and to the Gold Coast from various
other destinations. (Refer to Virgin Blue for prices and
timetables). Qantas offers flights to Ballina/Bryon from
most capital cities (Refer to Qantas for prices and timetables).
Accomodation:
Like the scenery the accommodation in this area is very
diverse. You can camp near the beach or enjoy 5 star luxury
in the seclusion of the rainforest.
